{"id":4094,"date":"2023-08-04T08:53:44","date_gmt":"2023-08-04T13:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=4094"},"modified":"2023-08-04T08:53:45","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T13:53:45","slug":"pace-of-job-growth-slows-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/pace-of-job-growth-slows-in-july\/","title":{"rendered":"Pace of job growth slows in July"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The pace of job creation in the U.S. slowed in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The economy added 187,000 jobs in July, according to data released Friday by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>. The jobs added were down from the 209,000 created in June. It was also far below the average for the past year of 312,000 jobs per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unemployment dipped slightly for a second straight month, going from 3.6 percent to 3.5 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe number of unemployed persons at 5.8 million, changed little in July,\u201d said the BLS report. \u201cThe unemployment rate has ranged from 3.4 percent to 3.7 percent since March 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The labor participation rate was at 62.6 percent for a fifth consecutive month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The healthcare industry accounted for roughly one-third of the jobs created in July, adding 63,000 roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social assistance added 24,000 jobs. Construction employment grew by 19,000. Leisure and hospitality jobs increased by 17,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average hourly earnings for all employees grew by 14 cents, 0.4 percent, to $33.74.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 4.4 percent,\u201d the BLS reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average workweek decreased by 0.1 hour to 34.3 hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The pace of job creation in the U.S. slowed in July.
