{"id":4272,"date":"2023-09-28T09:45:45","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T14:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=4272"},"modified":"2023-09-28T10:14:50","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T15:14:50","slug":"annual-used-vehicle-sales-forecast-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/annual-used-vehicle-sales-forecast-updated\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual used vehicle sales forecast updated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Used vehicle sales are expected to end the year at 35.7 million, according to a new forecast from Cox Automotive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The forecast is up slightly from the 35.6 million predicted at the start of the year.<br>Cox Automotive presented the updated forecast during its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coxautoinc.com\/market-insights\/q3-2023-cox-automotive-industry-insights-and-sales-forecast-call-replay-available\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Industry Insights and Sales Forecast Call T<\/a>uesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Used vehicle sales enjoyed a strong September, with rolling 30 days sales up 7 percent from the previous year, according to Cox Automotive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUsed vehicle sales are having quite a moment,\u201d said Chris Frey, Senior Manager, Economic and Industry Insights at Cox Automotive. \u201cThey\u2019ve been bucking season trends since July.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Used vehicle inventory is down 10 percent and the days of supply is at 44.4 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sales are expected to soften in the third quarter due to the high interest rates, inventory and continued affordability issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"907\" height=\"515\" src=\"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218.jpg 907w, https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218-768x436.jpg 768w, https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218-380x216.jpg 380w, https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218-550x312.jpg 550w, https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-28-094218-800x454.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The average listing price is down 5 percent year over year, but is still north of $26,000.<br>The average interest rate for used vehicle loans are at 14.03 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAffordability is near an all-time low,\u201d said Jonathan Gregory, Senior Manager, Economic and Industry Insights at Cox Automotive. \u201cInterest rates are the No. 1 issue holding back sales.\u201d<br>The new forecast for certified pre-owned sales increased to 2.7 million from 2.2 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe upgraded the CPO numbers.
