{"id":4975,"date":"2024-07-10T13:03:43","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T18:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=4975"},"modified":"2024-09-19T15:24:51","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T20:24:51","slug":"vroom-comes-to-1m-settlement-with-ftc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/vroom-comes-to-1m-settlement-with-ftc\/","title":{"rendered":"Vroom comes to $1M settlement with FTC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Vroom will pay $1 million as part of a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission announced last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/news-events\/news\/press-releases\/2024\/07\/ftc-takes-action-against-online-used-car-dealer-vroom-deceiving-customers-failing-deliver-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTC imposed the penalty after its<\/a> filing alleging Vroom had misrepresented its examination of vehicles before listing them and failed to obtain consumers\u2019 consent for delivery delays or provide prompt refunds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u201cVroom promised the fast deliveries of thoroughly inspected cars, but sped right past compliance,\u201d said Samuel Levine, Director of the FTC\u2019s Bureau of Consumer Protection in a press release. \u201cOnline car dealers and other Internet sellers must provide required disclosures just like any brick-and-mortar businesses that comply with the law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FTC alleged Vroom did not follow regulations in the Used Car Rule, the Pre-Sale Availability Rule and the Mail, Internet and Telephone Order Rule (MITOR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ir.vroom.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/vroom-announces-wind-down-ecommerce-used-vehicle-operations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vroom announced in January<\/a> that it was discontinuing its ecommerce operations and ending its used vehicle dealership business.
