{"id":5054,"date":"2024-08-21T13:43:53","date_gmt":"2024-08-21T18:43:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=5054"},"modified":"2024-09-19T15:24:51","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T20:24:51","slug":"arizona-dealer-fined-2-6m-by-ftc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/arizona-dealer-fined-2-6m-by-ftc\/","title":{"rendered":"Arizona dealer fined $2.6M by FTC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An Arizona dealership will pay $2.6 million to settle a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission and State of Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/news-events\/news\/press-releases\/2024\/08\/ftc-state-arizona-take-action-against-coulter-motor-company-deceptive-pricing-discriminatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coulter Motor Company, which owns Coulter Cadillac Tempe and Tempe Buick GMC,<\/a> was alleged by the agencies to have used deceptive online pricing to charge Latino consumers more in interest and add-ons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dealership and its former general manager Gregory Depaola will have to pay the settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FTC stated in a survey of Coulter consumers that 92 percent were charged for add-ons without their authorization or believed were required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCoulter used junk fees and other illegal tactics to drive up prices for consumers, especially Latino consumers,\u201d said Samuel Levine, Director of the FTC\u2019s Bureau of Consumer Protection in a press release. \u201cThe FTC will continue cracking down on practices that drive up prices, cheat consumers, and undercut honest sellers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suit claimed Latino customers paid nearly $1,200 more in interest and add-ons compared to white consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also stated the dealership advertised prices online that consumers were told at the dealership were unavailable due to \u201cmarket adjustments\u201d, add-ons and fees.l<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the FTC, $2.35 million of the settlement will be used to refund consumers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An Arizona dealership will pay $2.6 million to settle a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission and State&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":4537,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"csco_singular_sidebar":"","csco_page_header_type":"","csco_appearance_grid":"","csco_page_load_nextpost":"","csco_post_video_location":[],"csco_post_video_location_hash":"","csco_post_video_url":"","csco_post_video_bg_start_time":0,"csco_post_video_bg_end_time":0,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[3,39,54],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-5054","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-industry","8":"category-compliance","9":"category-legislative","10":"cs-entry","11":"cs-video-wrap"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5054","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=5054"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5054\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4537"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5054"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=5054"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=5054"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
