{"id":5432,"date":"2024-12-11T10:04:38","date_gmt":"2024-12-11T16:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=5432"},"modified":"2024-12-11T11:22:47","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T17:22:47","slug":"ferguson-announced-as-pick-to-lead-ftc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/ferguson-announced-as-pick-to-lead-ftc\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferguson announced as pick to lead FTC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President-elect Donald Trump Tuesday announced appointments to the Federal Trade Commission on his Truth Social account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump announced the appointment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/about-ftc\/commissioners-staff\/andrew-n-ferguson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">current FTC commissioner Andrew Ferguson<\/a> as the next chairman of the agency. He also named Mark Meador as a commissioner to create a new Republican majority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferguson joined the FTC in April 2024. He previously was the Solicitor General for Virginia and worked antitrust cases at several Washington, D.C. law firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAndrew has a proven record of standing up to Big Tech censorship, and protecting Freedom of Speech in our Great Country,\u201d Trump said in his Truth Social post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferguson will replace Lina Khan as the leader of the five-person commission. Khan had led the agency since March 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Khan\u2019s departure, Trump named Meador to fill the opening. Meador previously worked on antitrust cases with the FTC and Department of Justice.
