{"id":5548,"date":"2025-01-22T12:45:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-22T18:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=5548"},"modified":"2025-01-22T12:45:44","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T18:45:44","slug":"car-prices-fall-in-carfax-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/car-prices-fall-in-carfax-index\/","title":{"rendered":"Car prices fall in CARFAX index"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As the new year has started, used car prices are still falling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prices in every vehicle model fell in December between 0.2 percent and 2 percent, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carfax.com\/blog\/used-car-prices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January CARFAX Used Car Index<\/a>. Across the board, prices are down more than 2.2 percent in the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CARFAX points out the new car market is impacting used vehicle prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are\u00a0plenty of new cars\u00a0available for shoppers after some lean years that were caused by supply chain issues. In fact, there are so many new cars available that incentives on new cars hit the\u00a0highest level since the onset of the pandemic. That makes new cars\u00a0more affordable\u00a0and attractive to buyers and makes it harder for dealerships selling used cars to raise those prices,\u201d CARFAX noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparing prices to December 2022, prices are down 7.8 percent for used cars. Prices in that time are down more than 11.6 percent for minivans and vans and 14.4 percent for hybrids and EVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To start January, used cars were at $18,176. SUVs were at $23,341. Pickup truck prices fell 2 percent in December to $32,554.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hybrids and EVs started the year at $29,862.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As the new year has started, used car prices are still falling.
