NIADA continues its efforts to make vehicle repairs more affordable for its members and consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NIADA sent letters of support to the sponsors of H.R. 1566 and S. 1379, the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Acts Aug. 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These bills remove unnecessary barriers and ensure that NAIDA members who operate independent repair shops have access to repair and maintenance data, diagnostic tools, and aftermarket parts. Appropriate access means independent dealers can perform pre-sale reconditioning and provide ongoing, affordable repairs throughout a vehicle\u2019s lifecycle without having to rely on Original Equipment Manufacturers or their authorized dealers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The letters addressed to Senators Ben Ray Lujan (D-New Mexico) and Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) and U.S. Representatives Neal Dunn (R-Florida) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Washington) point out the efficiencies the bills create will \u201cresult in significant savings for our customers, many of whom come from modest means and rely on their vehicle as a lifeline to work, school, and meeting family obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It adds that rural customers will also benefit from access to the availability of local and efficient repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bills have bipartisan support with co-sponsors from both parties, all of whom were copied on the letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
