{"id":6824,"date":"2026-02-11T14:27:20","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T20:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/?p=6824"},"modified":"2026-02-11T14:27:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T20:27:22","slug":"new-jersey-dealer-fined-more-than-800k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/niada.com\/dashboard\/new-jersey-dealer-fined-more-than-800k\/","title":{"rendered":"New Jersey dealer fined more than $800K"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njoag.gov\/acting-attorney-general-davenport-announces-840000-judgment-protecting-consumers-from-fraud-by-used-car-dealership-bm-motor-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Jersey used vehicle dealership<\/a> was slapped with fines and penalties totaling $840,000 as a result of a case brought forth by the state\u2019s attorney general&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a ruling by New Jersey Superior Court Judge John Huda, BM Motor Cars of Rahway will pay a civil penalty of $793,500, $14,740 to reimburse the state\u2019s investigative costs and $34,536 for attorney fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BM Motors stood accused of 511 violations, including failure to make required disclosures on advertisements and violating a 2018 consent order for selling \u201cgray market\u201d vehicles \u2013vehicles imported without authorization that may not meet U.S. safety and emissions standards \u2013 illegal inspection waivers and failing to provide odometer disclosures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cAccess to a safe and affordable vehicle is not a luxury \u2013 it is a necessity for New Jersey families. Consumers have the right to clear, truthful information when navigating the expensive and complex process of buying a car,\u201d said Acting New Jersey Attorney General Davenport in a press release. \u201cWe will always stand up for our consumers when corporations seek to defraud them and hide the ball on the products they sell.
