What is a Certified Master Dealer?

AND WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME ONE

The Certified Master Dealer™ (CMD) program was developed to help you manage and grow your business. It is one of the industry’s most respected training programs for independent dealers. Once you complete this certification, you’ll become part of a of group of dealers who are committed to the industry, support compliant business standards and practices, and are leaders in their communities.

The Retail Certified Master Dealer program is for dealers who do not participate in Buy-Here-Pay-Here. They retail vehicles to consumers and may or may not also have a consumer facing service department.

The retail CMD curriculum is a 4 day in-person class, covering deep dives, best practices from experts and action plans for your dealership in:

  • Inventory Management
  • Reconditioning and Make-ready
  • Marketing and Customer Acquisition
  • Sales
  • Finance and Insurance
  • Customer Retention
  • Service
  • Dealership Accounting
  • Employee Management
  • Compliance

In each of these subject areas you will take deep dives to help understand and enact a plan for your dealership operations. You’ll share ideas, best practices, and network with fellow dealers and subject matter experts.

When you get to the end, you will have a business plan for you to start improving your operations.

As part of your certificate, you will be required to maintain your certifications by continually seeking out qualified education. We’ve worked with your state associations to tailor some of their education offerings to qualify for continuing education credits. NIADA also provides various opportunities either in-person education sessions, webinars, or convention education that will qualify for continued education credits. This ensures that you are provided ample opportunities to continue to build on your business plan as the business changes now and into the future.
