Enma Menedez of K9 Motors in Houston, Texas, found exactly the answers she was searching for Wednesday and Thursday at the NIADA BHPH New Dealer Academy.
Pointing to the manual that accompanied the lessons from NIADA Senior 20 Group Moderators Ben Goodman and Bill Elizondo, Menedez said it contained all the items she had been looking to implement into the dealership.
“The manual is amazing. I had a lot of the ideas, but they actually put it on paper for me,” Menedez said. “This is going to my bible for the dealership for now on.”
Menedez was one of a dozen participants in the class. Goodman and Elizondo used their combined more than 50 years of experience in the subprime and buy-here, pay-here markets to teach effective strategies in marketing, sales, structuring deals, underwriting, collections and asset management.
“It’s a great class with a lot of information,” said Miguel Ramirez of Route 77 Garage in Brownsville, Texas. “I’m not a new dealer, but they definitely give you a lot of information. The manual and the forms they give you will save us a lot of time.
“The experience and knowledge of these guys and the strategies are great. The first thing I’m going to do when I get back is put some of these strategies in place.”
Goodman told the students they could save their dealerships thousands of dollars implementing some of the policies, especially in their service department, a vital part of a BHPH business. He gave them insight on inventory controls and reconditioning.
Elizondo added information on marketing and advertising to help bring in leads and add sales.
Throughout the class, students provided additional discussion to help their peers.
Elizondo said it was a very successful class.
“Empowering minds one workshop at a time,” Elizondo said.
Advantage GPS and TaxMax sponsored the class.
