Ferguson announced as pick to lead FTC

President-elect Donald Trump Tuesday announced appointments to the Federal Trade Commission on his Truth Social account.

Trump announced the appointment of current FTC commissioner Andrew Ferguson as the next chairman of the agency. He also named Mark Meador as a commissioner to create a new Republican majority.

Ferguson joined the FTC in April 2024. He previously was the Solicitor General for Virginia and worked antitrust cases at several Washington, D.C. law firms.

“Andrew has a proven record of standing up to Big Tech censorship, and protecting Freedom of Speech in our Great Country,” Trump said in his Truth Social post.

Ferguson will replace Lina Khan as the leader of the five-person commission. Khan had led the agency since March 2021.

With Khan’s departure, Trump named Meador to fill the opening. Meador previously worked on antitrust cases with the FTC and Department of Justice. He is a partner at Kressin Meador Powers LLC.
