Independent Dealer podcast celebrates 400th show before BHPH Dealer Forum session

While running dealerships more than halfway across the country from each other, Luke Godwin and Jeff Watson have brought dealers together each week through their Independent Dealer podcast.

Thursday, the hosts will celebrate their milestone 400th show, where they share their thoughts and practices with their fellow dealers.

Godwin owns Godwin Motors in Columbia, South Carolina, and Watson is the owner of 4 Seasons Financial/Auto dealership in St. George, Utah. Their show has gathered a strong following since launching in December 2018.

“When we go places, we run into people who say, ‘Hey, I listen to you every single Thursday. I don’t miss. I run my whole dealership based on what you guys say,’” Watson told UCD about the show. “It’s flattering. Here, I was thinking I was having a conversation with my buddy, and people were listening. But if people are making real business decisions off our information, that’s just a little scary. It’s not a production. We’re not trying to sell a product, and we’re not professionals. This is a hobby. But it does make you look at it. We’ve got to be professional and make sure we’re giving out good information because people enjoy listening.”

After airing their 400th show, the duo will be the hosts of the “Roundtables Best Ideas” session at the NIADA BHPH Dealer Forum in Nashville, Tennessee, Nov. 11. It will be their second straight year to present the best ideas gathered during the dealer-led roundtable discussions.

Along with sharing ideas and tips to help dealers in the businesses, the pair will also be awarding a free registration and hotel stay at the Gaylord Rockies Resort in Aurora, Colorado, sponsored by AutoZone for the NIADA Convention and Expo, June 21-24, 2026.
