Used pickup truck prices dropped under $32,000 in February.
According to the March CARFAX Used Car Index, pickup truck prices fell more than $300 in February to $31,749 from $32,118 in January. Truck prices are down 5.6 percent in the past year.
“The average price of a used pickup truck fell another roughly $350 last month, dropping below $32,000 for the first time on the Carfax Used Car Index. To be sure, that’s not cheap, but it’s a lot less expensive than pickups have been recently,” CARFAX reported.
SUVs, vans and hybrids and EVs all saw price increases in February, ending recent declines.
SUVs increased in price by 0.5 percent to $23,068. Hybrids and EVs stopped their fall, gaining in price to $29,354. Van prices jumped 1.5 percent to $21,529.
“The average price of SUVs, those popular family haulers, saw a small but concerning climb of roughly $100. Used hybrids and EVs, long the leader in price drops among categories over the past year, saw an increase of about $150 on average. And used vans, which include the other popular-ish family haulers, minivans, saw a big climb of about $300 over January’s prices,” CARFAX noted.
Used car prices fell $160 to $17,537. It followed a $500 drop in January.
