The man found guilty in the shooting death of a Texas used car dealer was sentenced to 55 years in prison.
According to the KDFW in Dallas-Fort Worth, Brian Espy, 33, was found guilty in the shooting death of the owner of the Salem Autos in Arlington, Texas, Adel Elhindawi, 52.
Elhindawi was shot while repossessing a vehicle in May 2022. He died in the hospital three days after the incident.
Espy was arrested two days after the shooting.
News reports stated Espy had purchased a vehicle at Salem Autos, which experienced mechanical issues. The dealership loaned him a Jeep, which was not returned by Espy.
The Arlington Police Department reported Elhindawi and an employee went to retrieve the loaned Jeep at an apartment complex. When the employee used a spare key to enter the Jeep, he told investigators that Espy ran in his direction and fired several shots.
The employee drove away in the repossessed vehicle and parked around the corner. Elhindawi was shot as he tried to leave the complex in another vehicle.
