With school and related activities in full swing, the price for vehicles to haul the whole family around fell slightly in September.
According to the CARFAX Used Car Index for October, the prices for vans and minivans fell $270 last month. The average list price was $21,158, 1.3 percent less than in August. Vans and minivans prices were down $660 in the Southwest.
“Although other family haulers saw a pretty big drop in prices in September, the average price of mainstream used SUVs instead rose, but by less than $100,” CARFAX reported.
SUV prices hit $24,114, an increase of 0.4 percent from the previous month. Luxury SUV models had a slight decrease in price to $35,035.
Used pickups experienced a small fall in price to $34,199. It was down $150 from August.
As the clean vehicle credit deadline of Sept. 30 neared, the prices for EVs and hybrids dropped approximately $50 in September to $31,643.
Used car prices edged higher in September by 0.4 percent to $18,619.
