On September 16, the House Committee on Financial Services approved H.R. 10184, the Consumer Financial Protection Accountability and Reform Act, by a vote of 28-1. The bill would significantly restructure CFPB authority by subjecting the Bureau to congressional appropriations, adding guardrails to rulemaking and UDAAP enforcement, limiting regulation by enforcement, and reforming supervision and penalties. H.R. 10184 is a legislative priority for NIADA and is one of the measures that dealers will advocate for during the 2026 National Policy Conference.
