Ford Motors has issued a pair of recalls in the past week.
Ford recalled more than 800,000 vehicles potentially impacted by a low pressure fuel pump that may cause an engine to stall while driving on July 8.
The recall notice listed on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration site listed Ford vehicles between model years 2021 and 2023. The Ford models are the Bronco (2021-23), Expedition (2022), Explorer (2021-23), F-150 (2021-22), F-250 DD (2021-23), F-350 SD (2021-23), F-450 SD (2021-23), F-550 SD (2021-23), Mustang (2021-22) and Lincoln models Aviator (2021-23) and Navigator (2021-22).
According to the recall, prior to the pump failure, drivers may experience poor engine performance, the check engine light illuminating, or a reduction in engine power.
The recall notice states the remedy is under development. Vehicle owners are being notified of the recall and will be sent a second letter once the remedy is available.
Another recall was issued July 14 for another 690,000 vehicles potentially impacted by a cracked fuel injector, leading to a fire risk.
The recall is for certain Bronco Sports from 2021-24 and Escapes from 2020-22, both equipped with 1.5-liter engines.
Ford has identified eight vehicles experiencing fires under the hood as a result of the fuel leak.
Owners of the models will be notified by mail of the recall and are instructed to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer to have an engine control software update to include fuel leak detection.
