Carolinas IADA celebrates 69th Convention

NIADA joined the Carolinas IADA for their 69th annual Convention Aug. 1-4 at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The multi-day event was packed with education and entertainment. The pre-licensure training for new dealers in both North Carolina and South Carolina started the event, before an opening reception and family casino night.  The CIADA annual business meeting provided dealers with legislative updates from North and South Carolina and provided an opportunity for members to ask questions of the executive board and vote on the nominated incoming executive board.

The new slate of CIADA Executive Committee members were elected by unanimous proclamation by the CIADA voting members. Dean Canty of Automotive Experts was elected the new president of the CIADA and Dale Matthews of Matthews Motors was elected President-elect.

An energetic keynote speech was delivered by Jonathan Dawson. Following the keynote address, a legislative lunch featuring multiple members of the South Carolina legislature and North Carolina Rep. Brenden Jones allowed CIADA members to learn more about issues of importance to our industry.

South Carolina DMV Director Kevin Shwedo provided an update regarding making business easier to do at the DMV for Independent Auto Dealers. Several education classes were offered before the opening of the expo hall featuring over 93 industry partners.

Steve Wetmore from McAdenville Motors was named CIADA Quality Dealer of the Year at the awards gala. A prayer breakfast sponsored by Laura Taylor from America’s Auto Auction in Charleston closed out the show.
